Ice hockey is a very
physical, fast paced game. It is played on ice with a puck, hit
around by sticks. Over 4000 years ago, the ancient Egyptians
played a sport resembling field hockey. European immigrants
brought over versions of hockey to the United States and Canada.
In 1875, today's modern ice hockey was developed. In 1893,
the first hockey game was played in the USA. Before, it was
mostly played in Canada and in Europe Hockey has been criticized for being too violent. Even so, it is a popular game that is played in the Olympics. It probably is not as popular as football or basketball, but still can attract a crowd. For more information click HERE or HERE.  |
